IJszeekathedraal Tromsø - Ice Cathedral Tromsø
IJSZEEKATHEDRAAL (ISHAVSKATEDRALEN)
De IJszeekathedraal (Ishavskatedralen) werd op 19 december 1965 ingewijd door bisschop Monrad Norderva. Het moderne gebouw heeft een glazen 35m hoge gevel. Het gebrandschilderd glasraam werd op 25 juni 1972 ingehuldigd. Het is 23m hoog en heeft een oppervlakte van 140 m². Het bedekt de hele oostelijke wand van de kerk en weegt 140 ton. Het is een werk van Viktor Sparre.

Vigelandpark - Vigelandsanlegget
HET VIGELANDPARK
In het Frognerpark in de Noorse hoofdstad Oslo bevindt zich de zogenaamde Vigelandsanlegget, het Vigelandpark.Vigelandsanlegget telt 212 stenen en bronzen beelden, die alle tussen 1907 en 1942 zijn gemaakt door de Noorse beeldhouwer Gustav Vigeland.
Veel beelden symboliseren de kringloop van het menselijk leven. Onderaan de brug is de ontwikkeling van een embryo tot een kleuter te zien, terwijl rondom de Monolitten alle levensstadia van de mens te zien zijn. Op de monoliet zelf staan op elkaar klimmende menselijke figuren afgebeeld.
Het beeldenpark is ontstaan in de jaren 1923 tot 1943.

Storsteinen is the mountain that faces the city of Tromsø, across the graceful bridge from the city centre. You can take the short steep climb of the hill, or take the cable car from Tromsdalen, for a spectacular view of the city, the island and the mountains.

De stad ligt nagenoeg op 70° noorderbreedte, wat overeenkomt met de geografische breedte van Alaska en Siberië. Ze ligt boven de poolcirkel, waardoor tussen eind mei en half juli de middernachtzon is te zien. Van eind november tot half januari heeft de stad te maken met de poolnacht.
Het stadscentrum en de luchthaven liggen op het eiland Tromsøya, dat via de 1016 m lange Tromsøbrug, en een tunnel, met het vasteland en met de 1235 m lange Sandnessundbrug met het eiland Kvaløya verbonden is. The Troms Bridge (Norwegian: Tromsøbrua) is a cantilever road bridge in the city of Troms, Norway. It crosses the strait of Tromsøysundet between Tromsdalen on the mainland and Tromsøya. Construction began in 1958, and the bridge was opened in 1960. At the time of its opening, it was the longest bridge in Northern Europe, with a length of 1,036 meters.
The city lies at a latitude of nearly 70° north, at the same latitude as Alaska and Siberia. Because it lies above the polar circle, the midnight sun shines from the end of May till the middle of July. From the end of November till mid January the city experiences the polar night.
The city centre and the airport are situated on the island of Tromsøya, which is connected by means of the 1,016 m long Troms bridge and a tunnel to the main land and by means of the 1,235 m long Sandnessund bridge to the island of Kvaløya. Tromsdalen, more to the east on the mainland, and the eastern part of Kvaløya are a few of suburbs of Troms.
