(bron Wikepedia)

The Troms Bridge (Norwegian: Tromsøbrua) is a cantilever road bridge in the city of Troms, Norway. It crosses the strait of Tromsøysundet between Tromsdalen on the mainland and Tromsøya. Construction began in 1958, and the bridge was opened in 1960. At the time of its opening, it was the longest bridge in Northern Europe, with a length of 1,036 meters.
The city lies at a latitude of nearly 70° north, at the same latitude as Alaska and Siberia. Because it lies above the polar circle, the midnight sun shines from the end of May till the middle of July. From the end of November till mid January the city experiences the polar night.
The city centre and the airport are situated on the island of Tromsøya, which is connected by means of the 1,016 m long Troms bridge and a tunnel to the main land and by means of the 1,235 m long Sandnessund bridge to the island of Kvaløya. Tromsdalen, more to the east on the mainland, and the eastern part of Kvaløya are a few of suburbs of Troms.
